General Rules

  • Date and Time: May 16th, 2015 at 12pm

  • Location: Level Up Video Games 113 Locust St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060

  • 1 v 1

  • Single Elimination (Opt to change depending on player count)

  • Max. Players: 32

  • Game will be played on Xbox One

  • Best 2 out of 3 except for Semi and Grand Finals which will be 3 out of 5 and first to 5 respectively

  • Prizes paid in store credit $200 in prizes

  • All competitors may bring their own fight stick or controller. Level Up will provide standard wired Xbox One controller

  • Turbo button features are not allowed.

Game Rules

  • Games will be played on default settings.

  • Game Settings:Versus Mode, 90 seconds, 2 rounds, No Handicap.

  • Winner may not change characters, only the loser may change character or variation.

  • Both players may choose the stage initially, but if the loser changes characters he/she may also change the stage. They may only do this if they change their character, however.

  • If Final Match to decide the outcome of a match ends in a Draw with both players being awarded a win then the match must be replayed.

  • If players opt to perform a button check before beginning a match, they must choose the characters and variations they will seriously use in the tournament. Once the button check is complete, players must use the "Restart Match" command in the pause menu.

  • Players may restart the match or return to character select midgame but forfeit that particular game. Losers may not end the game on match point. Fatalities and Brutalities are encouraged. FINISH HIM!

  • If a player accidentally or intentionally stops his game for any other reason, he will be forced to forfeit the round. Example include accidentally pressing the start button on his controller to pause the match, unplugging his or his opponents joystick, etc. If the game cannot be restarted from the exact point of interruption, the player is forced to forfeit the game.

  • Match interruptions beyond the players control (e.g. the game crashes or freezes) will bedealt with directly by the Judge. All best attempts will be made to resume the round from where it left off. If that cannot be accomplished, the game will be replayed with both players picking the same characters and map.

  • All Macros available via the in ­game controller configuration menu are allowed.

  • Pausing a game will result in forfeit of that round unless the opponent chooses to waive this option.

Rules of Conduct

  • Players will conduct themselves in a reasonable manner, maintaining a friendly and polite demeanor to spectators, tournament officials, and other players.

  • A player may be disqualified from the event based on actions taken by friends or relatives who disrupt the operation of the tournament.

  • It is strictly forbidden for spectators to communicate with a player while he or she is competing. Any spectator attempting to do so will be asked to leave the event and may result in the disqualification of that spectator if they are participating in the tournament.

  • Abusive behavior and language is prohibited.

  • Abuse to game stations, controllers or any tournament equipment is prohibited.

  • Any action that interferes with the play of a game is prohibited.

  • Gambling, including betting on the outcome of games is prohibited.

  • Violation of any rule, unless specifically stated otherwise, will result in immediate disqualification and/or loss of winner status.

  • Games started without the approval of a referee will be restarted.

  • Players are not allowed to alter any tournament settings.

  • Incorrectly ending a game without a referee’s permission will result in a forfeit.

  • If a player fails to report to their station within 3 minutes of being called they will forfeit.

  • Players are encouraged to bring their own controllers, however controllers are supplied by the tournament. If a controller is defective, a player must notify the referee.

  • Use of any controllers with turbo capabilities is prohibited.

  • No outside memory cards or saved games allowed.

  • Competitors may bring their own headsets.

  • Each player will be allowed a maximum of 1 minutes to configure their controls.

  • In the event of a system malfunction or power failure that current game will be continued from the point of interruption. If this cannot be done than the entire game shall be restarted.

  • If game settings are found to be wrong during a game, the settings will be corrected and the game will proceed.

  • If the outcome of a game is disputed the tournament runner will make whatever decision he deems necessary to settle the dispute.

  • The tournament runner has the authority to disqualify any contestant without any prior notice without reason at any time.

  • “Professional” players are not allowed to enter tournaments.

  • Age Restrictions: 17 and up, ages 13-16 may join but they must have signed parental consent form to participate.

  • Level Up Video Games and their sponsors and other tournament affiliates reserve the right to use a registered player's name, photographs, video footage, and/or any other likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without consent from the player beyond their willingness to register and compete in the Tournament.

  • Each participant agrees to be bound by the rules of this document.

  • All rules are subject to change, and may be posted without notice
